Kortom, hoe jonger hoe beter. Daar is egter ook mense wat krities oor vroeë leer is. Hulle is bang dat veeltaligheid klein kinders sal oorweldig. Afgesien daarvan bestaan die vrees dat hulle geen taal behoorlik sal leer nie. Uit ’n wetenskaplike oogpunt is dié bedenkinge ongegrond. Die meeste taalkundiges en neurosielkundiges is optimisties. Hul studie van die onderwerp lewer positiewe resultate op. Kinders geniet gewoonlik taalkursusse. En as kinders tale leer, dink hulle ook oor tale. Deur vreemde tale te leer, leer hulle ook hul moedertaal ken. Hulle trek lewenslank voordeel uit dié kennis van tale. Miskien is dit eintlik beter om met moeiliker tale te begin.
